5 essential habits for your single mom morning routine

In the world of a single mom by choice, every morning presents a chance to start the day with intention and vitality. As someone who navigates this journey alongside you, I recognize the significance of establishing a morning ritual that empowers you to navigate the responsibilities and pleasures of parenthood. In this article, I explore five crucial habits that can enhance your single mom morning routine.

A productive morning routine can set the tone for your entire day.

I never truly understood what that meant until I had a morning routine. Mornings are the rhythm of my day, influencing how smoothly everything else unfolds.

Over the years, I've honed a strong morning routine, waking up at 5 am. Crafting a powerful morning routine can be the key to setting a positive tone for your day.

Here are five essential habits I swear by to ensure my mornings are both productive and fulfilling.

5 Tips for Crafting Your Single Mom Morning Routine

1- Meditation for Mental Clarity:

Before the sun rises and the world awakens, I dedicate 15 to 30 minutes to meditation.

This simple practice allows me to clear my mind, find focus, and cultivate a sense of calm and peace. It's my personal ritual for mental clarity, ensuring I start the day with a centered mindset.

I recommend using Headspace if you haven’t meditated before, they have some great 5 mins meditations to get you started.

2- Quick HIIT Workout for a Boost of Energy:

A short 10-15 minute High-Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) session is my next step for an energy boost.

Not only does it kickstart my metabolism, but the release of endorphins leaves me feeling accomplished and ready to conquer the day. I used The Bloom Method for my morning workouts.

3- Showering Before I Wake Her: A Non-Negotiable Morning Ritual:

If there's one thing I've learned, it's that if I haven’t showered before she is up, I don’t know when I’ll get a chance to shower.

Getting it done before my daughter wakes ensures that I step into the day refreshed and ready to go.

4- To-Do List to Max Productivity:

Before my daughter wakes up, I take advantage of the quiet moments to create a to-do list for the day. Having a clear roadmap allows me to make the most of my time, ensuring that tasks are efficiently tackled.

It's hugely helpful in keeping me focused on getting right into the tasks I need to get done while she naps, vs. trying to figure it out and waste time.

5- Digital Detox: Do Not Disturb and Time Limits:

In this age of constant connectivity, I’ve come to realize how important boundaries are. I've implemented a strict digital detox by enabling Do Not Disturb mode on my phone from 9 pm to 7:00 am.

Additionally, I've set time limits on social media. This intentional disconnection has not only saved me time in the morning but has also prevented unnecessary stress by avoiding the rabbit hole of endless notifications or being distracted by an email that needs tending to.

Sum Up

A well-crafted morning routine is a powerful tool for choice moms. It's not about doing more; it's about doing the right things to set the tone for a productive day.

Try incorporating some of these habits into your mornings, and you might find, as I did, that a strong morning routine can make all the difference in the world.

Here’s to mastering the morning and embracing the day ahead so you can be the best mom you can be for your little one.
